Nonsensical Actions (A purposeful examination and pointless imitations)
(2018)

In this work I wanted to emphasize and acknowledge the movement and connections the material flow of industrial production creates between areas.

I find a piece of a discarded tile wall from a residential street in the city center. I then carry the tile wall in my walk from the city centre out into the industrial areas; both areas could be seen as the materials’ original habitat - the tile is produced in the industrial and ends up in the homes or offices in the city. Walking the tile back to its assumed area of production is a performative investigation that explores material assumptions and connections between different parts of a city. The title is connected to how senseless this act might appear.
